About the authors

Louise Haagh is a Reader in Politics at the University of York, co-editor of the academic journal Basic Income Studies and chair of the Basic Income Earth Network. She is the author of Citizenship, Labour Markets and Democratization (Palgrave, 2002).

Anke Hassel is Professor of Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance and Academic Director of the Hans Böckler Foundation’s Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI). She is the author of Wage Setting, Social Pacts and the Euro (Amsterdam U.P., 2006)

Francine Mestrum is a researcher and activist on social development. She chairs Global Social Justice, an association working on the promotion of transformative universal social protection and the common good of humanity. She has worked at different European institutions and at the Universi‐ ties of Brussels (ULB), Antwerp and Ghent.

Henning Meyer is Editor-in-Chief of Social Europe and a Research Associate of the Public Policy Group at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is also Director of the consultancy New Global Strategy Ltd. and frequently writes opinion editorials for international newspapers such as The Guardian, DIE ZEIT, The New York Times and El Pais.

Vicente Navarro is Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at Johns Hopkins University and at University Pompeu Fabra’s Public Policy Center in Barcelona, Spain. He is the author of Bienestar Insuficiente, Democracia Incompleta (Editorial Anagrama, 2015).

Bo Rothstein holds the August Röhss Chair in Polit‐ ical Science at the University of Gothenburg and was formerly Professor of Government and Public Policy at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. His books include The Social Democratic State (Oxford U.P., 1996), Just Institutions Matter (Cambridge U.P., 1998), Social Traps and the Problem of Trust (Cambridge U.P., 2006) and Good Government (Edward Elgar, 2012).

Ulrich Schachtschneider is an energy consultant, freelance social scientist and author. He is a board member of the EU-wide network Unconditional Basic Income Europe. His research interests are Socio-Ecological Transformation, Sustainable Development, Ecology, Basic Income and Post-Growth Policies.

Guy Standing is Professorial Research Associate at SOAS, University of London, and a co-founder and honorary co-president of the Basic Income Earth Network (BIEN). His books include The Precariat: The New Dangerous Class (Bloomsbury, 2011), A Precariat Charter: From Denizens to Citizens (Bloomsbury, 2014) and Basic Income: And How We Can Make it Happen (Pelican, 2017).

Malcolm Torry is Director of the Citizen's Income Trust and a Visiting Senior Fellow in the Social Policy Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science. His books include Money for Everyone (Policy Press, 2013), 101 Reasons for a Citizen’s Income (Policy Press, 2015) and The Feasibility of Citizen’s Income (Palgrave, 2016).

Philippe Van Parijs is Professor Emeritus at the University of Louvain, Robert Schuman Fellow at the European University Institute (Florence) and Associate Member of Nuffield College (Oxford). His books include Real Freedom for All (Oxford U.P., 1995) and Basic Income. A radical Proposal for a Free Society and a Sane Economy (Harvard U.P., 2017, with Yannick Vanderborght)
